A friend of mine is traveling Australia in the autumn? What are the must-see places in Australia? If anybody travelled earlier or however long, what tips or advice would you give?

If you like beaches and tourist towns, check out Byron Bay There's a greally great lookout there and if you go at sunset/sunrise you can get some great shots. And if you want to see Australia trying desperately to be like California... check out the Gold Coast (although unless you're a Japanese tourist you might want to spend a short time there). If you want to see a town that's a little bit 'different', check out Nimben. It's a funky little hippy town (that's quickly turning into a tourist town). The art gallery there is amazing, and the buildings are all so colourful and creative. It's worth a visit (especially if you go during the weed festival).

My friend said that you should go to the Sydney Opera House. There are also a lot of wild penguins and dolphins there.

The Blue Mountains is a tourist area, visiting the region in spring will allow you to see some of the rarest and wildest mountain flowers, in summer its amazingly cool, and in autumn, the falling autumn leaves create a magical effect..

March is the start of the southern autumn. As the hot summer weather cools into the coming winter, the time for parades and festivities continues in Australia.
